Invest with Archangel
Join us in backing Australia's boldest founders building generational companies
We are experts in round one investing and have built a successful track record of identifying and developing the best early-stage technology companies. Since 2020 we have written usually the first institutional cheque, between A$250,000 and A$750,000, into 70+ companies across Australia. We wrote Heidi Health's first cheque at pre-seed and have invested in every subsequent round through its A$140m Series C at a A$1.26 billion valuation. We have also had 5+ exits so far, including two portfolio companies acquired by Canva: MagicBrief in June 2025 and Doohly in March 2026.
We are currently accepting expressions of interest for our 2026 Fund. The fund is targeting approximately A$40 million, has announced a A$25 million first close, and is open to wholesale and sophisticated investors under the Corporations Act 2001.
The fund is registered as an ESVCLP (an Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnership), an Australian Government structure for funds that invest at the very earliest stages. Registration provides eligible investors with ESVCLP tax benefits while supporting Australian founders at the start of their journey, and you can check our registration yourself on the government's public register at business.gov.au. Whether the tax benefits apply to you depends on your own circumstances, so please talk to your own adviser.

"Archangel's guidance and introductions have been pivotal to the growth of Atelier. He has been exceedingly generous with his time, pointed in his counsel, and someone I feel comfortable will share an unbiased opinion whenever I need it."
"They know that early stage investing is a long term relationship with many stages, and I have no trouble recommending them to founders looking for advice, support and capital."
"Archangel offers quick meaningful input on growth and funding execution with sensible intros. At the same time, they have a clear framework for how your vision fits the competitive landscape and how to carve out your niche."
FAQ
Who runs the fund?
Ben Armstrong (Managing Partner), Rayn Ong (Partner) and Andrew Cicutto (Partner). Between them they bring 15 years of venture capital across Australia and the US, more than 100 angel investments, and hands-on operating experience as founders. You can read about each of them on our team page.
How many companies have you backed?
70+ since 2020, with 5+ exits so far, including two portfolio companies acquired by Canva.
What does the fund invest in?
First institutional cheques of A$250,000 to A$750,000 into pre-seed and seed technology companies across Australia. We are stage specialist and sector agnostic by design, with depth in AI native software. We also allocate a significant portion of the fund to double down on winning companies.
Do you invest in later rounds too?
Yes. We keep capital aside for follow-on investment and we use it. The clearest example: we wrote Heidi Health's pre-seed cheque and invested in every round after that, through to their A$140m Series C.
How do I invest in the current fund?
The fund is open to wholesale and sophisticated investors only. Get in touch through this form and our team will reach out with the information memorandum.
What do I need to qualify?
You need to meet the wholesale investor test under the Australian Corporations Act, usually evidenced by an accountant's certificate. Please see here (Moneysmart: sophisticated investor) for more information
What should I expect as an investor?
Venture capital is a long commitment. Your money is called in instalments over several years, comes back in irregular lumps rather than a steady income, and should be money you can leave alone for the better part of a decade.
