About Archangel

Archangel is a small team of venture capital professionals that invests in early stage technology businesses predominantly in Australia. The role is Australian based with a preference for a Victorian based candidate. Although the role is mostly remote, there is an expectation that you can attend team and industry events. We will consider part time applicants and those that require flexibility. 

The successful applicant will support all the fund’s investment activities. She/he will work closely with and as an integral part of our small and collaborative team of venture professionals (which will total 5 with this addition). 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Involvement in all aspects of due diligence on new investments (business analysis, industry thesis, competitive landscape mapping, business/pricing model evaluation, and financial modelling / deal structuring)
  • Reading/reviewing business plans and pitch decks
  • Assessing market/company attractiveness to help identify compelling businesses
  • Working in a strategic capacity with Archangel Ventures’ existing portfolio companies as needed
  • Preparing market analyses and presentations to drive investment decisions and for engagement with the firm’s network of corporate relationships
  • Investment professional will participate in and be asked to contribute to weekly internal meetings in which new investments and portfolio companies are discussed
  • Attending community and ecosystem events to represent the firm, network and share knowledge 

Desirable experience, skills and attributes for success:
(Please note if you don’t meet all these criteria you will still be considered)

  • Work experience that demonstrates the drive, skills and character required to be successful in a demanding, entrepreneurial and dynamic work environment
  • One or two years experience at a top-tier investment bank, corporate finance team or strategy consulting firm would be ideal
  • Experience in strategy, business development, partnerships or corporate development
  • Self-starter with superior work ethic and uncompromising personal integrity
  • Highly analytical with an interest in sifting through, and identifying trends within, large volumes of data 
  • Understanding of financial modelling and accounting; proficiency with spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with limited supervision (including proactively seeking guidance when needed)
  • Wants to be part of a highly collaborative team, where we all strive to win together
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution, and a demonstrated track record of both academic and professional success
